"Reorganizing There is nothing more refreshing than starting a new year by clearing away the old. We take this time to clean out our closets and donate any items that we no longer use to others who can make good use of them. One of our favorite resources for doing this is Betina Baumgarten of Best Foot Forward. She has an innovative approach to shopping your closet in order to determine what items are keepers or can be reinvented, what additional items might be useful, and what would be worthwhile donating. In conjunction with her styling and closet editing, Betina can also facilitate donations to local charities, including Dress for Success, or assist clients in the consignment process.  Betina's "style swaps"  with friends' closets is another fun way to reinvent yourself."

Making a statement

Ashley Berman, of Ashley Morgan Designs, Bloomingdales Event, April 3-5, 2013

Just styled my client (who is now a dear friend!), Ashley Berman, of Ashley Morgan Designs (www.ashleymorgandesigns.com) for her upcoming Boston trunk shows! Ashley needed a conservative look that still had an element of edge for one of her events. We picked out this amazing DVF dress - a conservative silhouette with a Jacquard fabric, it had the perfect classic feel - with a little something unexpected to remind people of her true aesthetic: a great yet subtle zebra print embedded in the fabric. To give it a more conservative edge, we paired it with a classic silhouette -- a pointed toe pump.  But true to Ashley's vibe, we went with a saffiano leather (instead of a patent) to again, play with textures and give it an unexpected edge.  This outfit (the first I picked for her, actually!) was perfect ensemble to showcase who she is to her clients and patrons. Here is a picture of the dress we found for her!

SAN FRANCISCO BALLET: FASHION SHOW 2013 KICK OFF EVENT, GIAMBALLISTA VALLI, APRIL 2014

SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE

Even the mastermind behind the magic needs to look her best!  Especially when her event is the Giamballista Valli fashion show for SF Ballet's opening of Cinderella!  Julia Nottebohm, Special Events Manager for SF Ballet, called me with a challenge: she needed the perfect shoes to rock a black cocktail dress and jacket that demonstrated the spirit of Giamballista Valli, at a price that would not break the bank.  The shoes needed to be chic, have edge, yet could rock a conservative outfit she would be wearing during the day, but she needed to translate into cocktail attire.  Prabal Gurung to the rescue! Great price point, and adds dimension and edge to an otherwise professional ensemble! The perfect way to take a work ensemble from day to night!
